Dealing with family learning in shools
Course summary
The course aims to strengthen the school-community link by
offering parents opportunities to learn how to support their children’s
learning .
The course consists of 4 modules and will provide participants with knowledge
on family learning, how to design, customize, pilot and implement family learning
programmes.
The course includes guided practical use of refletive journalling by the particiopants,
independent internet information and documentation before, during and after
the course, presentations of successful programmes, observation of live and
recorded sessions, interactive small and big group discussions on family learning
methods, session development workshops , session piloting and customization
Preparatory activity and post course mentoring – on the internet and
as recommended by the trainer - independent information and documentaion on
family learning, adult learning, learning barriers with adults, learning styles,
communcation methods and learning strategies, listening and effective presentations
and the likes, service management.
The trainees will receive a certificate of participation, a set of 30 parents-children
joint sessions, and the communication plan after the course
Target groups : teachers in pre school and primary education, adult educators,
teacher trainers, educational guides and cousellors, headteachers/principals/managers
of schools and adult education providers, members of students/teachers councils
in adult education
Trainers :
VIORICA aLEXANDRU : Master in social services management;
Currently Adult education adviser to Centre Education 2000+, country co-ordintaor
of the G1-Parents empowerment
for family literacy project (2002-2004); co-author to the English version and
author of the Romanian version of the parents tutor training programme(2004,
2006) , mentor to parents and children tutors , participant and contributor
in family literacy conferences and consultations in Europe and in Romania ,
developer of the parents clubs and club management tools in Romania
GABRIELA BARBULESCU – Psychologist and primary school teacher for 10
years, extensive experience and expertise as a family literacy tutor; practitioner
and developer of family literacy sessions to specific needs or cutomization
of existing sessions to participant’s needs; currently running parents
club programmes based in Bucharest
